Well, if they don't have spit curls that probably means they got brushed out or if their hair is down they might be there but just kinda hidden.
I'm not really sure what year you'd be looking for. I just got lucky and got one that had the brighter hair. Maybe someone else could give you some ideas on a year to look for.

I'm pretty sure that Felicity was one of the original ideas Pleasant Rowland had, but that she took much longer to develop, so she might have been trademarked in 1986. However, that trademark might also be the trademark for the pleasant company logo.

Copywrite dates do not always mean that item was made that year. Sometimes company will have items tagged Made in XXXX but it is really year YYYY. It does cost money to produce the tags and everytime they have to do a new date, it will cost more. As right now most AG dolls say 2008, yet it is only 2005, so the tag does not have the same year the doll was created. The dolls that do not have tags, I do not know the reason PC did this, amybe it ws the transistion period of the German Factories to Hungarian Factories. Hope this helped.

re: bright red hair -- I bought my Felicity in Jan. 1993 and she has gorgeous red hair. Since I've set it and brushed it, no spit curls remain. Doesn't mean she isn't well taken care of but she has Had a Life, if you take my meaning. She has no body tag.
